Which version of Venom is real? Does it matter as long as the songs are still played? The important thing is the preservation of what they created. This goes beyond any single person in the original unholy trio. Proven by the fact that none were present.
Venom inc is not a separate entity. This is Venom. They play all the Venom songs you’ve been listening to since you first heard Black Metal. Even with Mantas out and Mike Hickey filling in on guitar (sick), it felt real to me damnit.
What Venom created is beyond their control. The black flame they sparked has carried across generations to inspire wave after second wave of artists.
There was a baby in the crowd. Held by a man hoping to pass on what he loves to who he loves. A dad and son in matching Napalm Death hats with their fists in the air. Some drunk dude double-fisting PBR who just happened to be there.
Dio once said, “Time is a never ending journey.” That journey is made infinitely better with Venom ringing in my ears.
