40 years. Dedication to a singular idea. Refining and crafting a sound for 40 fucking years. That level of commitment is something to aspire to. After all that time and to still be playing at the Brass Mug in front of 30 people, that trickled down to probably 15, on a Friday night can only be justified by one thing. Love. It’s not about the size of the crowd or the merch sold. It’s about total dedication to Heavy Metal. The compulsion to create.
Think of all the trends over the last 40 years. The birth, death and rebirth of sub-genres. The rise and fall of legends. Numetal!
While all this happened, Hellwitch remained focused on who they were and what they wanted to be. Forever pursuing a singular sound established early on.
When you do something well enough for long enough, it always comes back in style. Toiling away in the proverbial windowless shack at the end of the road on a nameless dead end street in the swamps of Ft. Lauderdale, Hellwitch has solidified their position as an essential band for anyone who gives an actual fuck about Heavy Metal.
