A Grand Display Metal
A backing orchestral track is a crazy thing to play with live. Not because you scored and recorded it with an actual orchestra. That’s sick and impressive in its own regard. The level of precision needed from each member of the band for it to sound good. That wiggle room you are allotted playing live vanishes. Gone. Perfection is mandatory from all members to stay on track and for everything to hit at the right moment. You can’t play off subtle mistakes as easily. The room for human error vanishes with the introduction of this layer. Machines don’t make mistakes so neither can you.
Septicflesh are tight. Top-tier musical freaks. Costumes and backing track all working together to create a truly unique live experience. A symphony of riffs elevated with epic movements. The parts that hit hardest are the ones where the band isn’t fully playing. Drums, vocals and orchestra. Guitars poised on stage waiting for their que to come back in while the singer screams like some maniacal maestro. Then everything comes in again all at once. On time.

Maybe one day Septicflesh will do more shows with an actual orchestra. The logistics of a band from Greece touring America is already an insane feat in its own regard. What’s another 100 people? Get those classically trained nerds out of the orchestra pit and into the van.
