Melodic Black Metal from New York

Negative Plane

Following the brutality of Abysmal Lord, Negative Plane’s set was a welcome pause during day two of Eve of War Fest. The contrast between their visual minimalism and complex music has a magnetic quality. Slightly slack jawed and entranced, I was 100% drawn into Negative Plane and Nameless Void’s face draped with long hair and the ripped leather jacket. One of the things I remembered from this set was the stillness. No moshing. No stage diving. Only awe. Negative Plane plays that kind of beautiful black metal that makes me want to lay on a blanket in Wicker Park, stare up at the sun through my eyelids and daydream on a late summer afternoon.
